Tattoos scare me. The idea of having a design placed under my skin, like, forever, scares the $#!t out of me. What if I don’t like it in an year? Is there any chance I’ll even tolerate it in 10?

When I took this photo at a tattoo fair, I didn’t think about all this; I was concentrating on getting the shot. It was only later, when I downloaded the picture, when I realized this sums my inner feelings.

I had the opportunity of photographing Commander Mihai Dobre Tone and the whole Romanian acrobatics team in June 2007. It’s still hard for me to believe that he’s gone – dead on 6 June 2009 because of a mechanical failure in his Extra 300L pane.
